Who are we?
Bermondsey BSAC are a branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) which is the governing body of the sport in the UK.
The club has been established since 1956 and we have successfully trained hundreds of divers.
We meet every Wednesday evening at Seven Islands Leisure Centre, Lower Road, Rotherhithe.
What do we do?
The simple answer is that: We teach diving and then we go diving.
Training starts in the safe environment of the swimming pool where basic skills are taught, practiced and confidence gained.
The next stage will typically be at an inland site where there is restricted depth and skills learnt in the pool can be developed.
The final stage will be in the sea on a Club day or weekend away, where we can fine tune your new skills and build self confidence.
Alongside the practical skills there are also lectures, where the theory of diving is discussed and safety considerations taught, with periodic test papers or examinations to achieve the relevant qualification level.
The branch has the benefit of a number of nationally qualified instructors and the training you will receive and the BSAC qualifications obtained will be recognized and accepted worldwide.
Our dives take place along the south coast from Dover to Weymouth. Holidays and long weekends away are to places further afield, the West Country, Wales, Scotland, Malta and the Red Sea are all destinations we have visited in the past few years.
Every week, after the pool session, we go to the The Ship public house for a drink. Feel free to come and join us at the bar just after 10pm every Wednesday.
